(Hudson Valley, NY) – Soccer Plus Academy, the Hudson Valley’s Premier Boys Youth Soccer Club, is pleased to announce that it has been selected to become the newest official partner club of the West Ham United International Academy (WHUIA).  As an official WHUIA partner club, Soccer Plus Academy will  have the opportunity to host a West Ham Academy Player Identification Camp and the benefit of West Ham United International Academy’s player development philosophies and coaching curriculum, along with perhaps the most exciting of the unique opportunities, the ability to send teams, players and coaches to the UK to train at the world famous West Ham United Academy.  Soccer Plus Academy is certain that this partnership will be an extension of their current commitment to player development.

The intial opportunity for Soccer Plus Academy players to experience the West Ham training methods will be during the West Ham Academy Player Identification Camp, slated for the Summer of 2013.  The WHUIA Identification Camp, for both boys and girls in all age divisions will serve not only as an elite level training opportunity, but players that excel during the ID Camp will be invited to attend the West Ham Academy National Residential Camp later in the summer with players who excel at the Camp to be invited to train alongside West Ham Academy players in the UK.

The West Ham United Academy, or “The Academy of Football” as it is also known, is located in London and is one of the most highly regarded youth academies in the world.  The Academy is an important part of the club’s identity and a regular source of players for the first team.  Past notable graduates of the Academy include:  Bobby Moore, Sir Geoff Hurst, Frank Lampard Sr, Harry Redknapp, Sir Trevor Booking and Paul Ince.  More recent graduates include:  Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard Jr, Joe Cole, Michael Carrick, Jermaine Defoe and Glen Johnson, among others.  An ITV Football article stated that "the biggest single contributor to the England national squad is not Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool or Chelsea, but the West Ham Youth Academy."

Tony Carr MBE, Academy Manager, West Ham United FC, is one of the most influential figures in English football. It is not just that seven of the England squad that travelled to the 2010 FIFA World Cup have come under his guidance – Glen Johnson, John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard, Michael Carrick, Joe Cole and Jermaine Defoe – but due to Tony’s commitment to the grassroots of the game, for four decades he has given back to the sport he loves to create an outstanding legacy for himself and West ham United.

• Soccer Plus Academy teams will have the opportunity to travel to London to train with West Ham United Academy teams and coaches, as well as play competitive matches against professional academies and local clubs.
• Soccer Plus Academy players and coaches will have the benefit of a quarterly Web Conference organized by West Ham United Academy on subjects such as player development, club development and training methods.
• Soccer Plus Academy staff will identify elite players to send to train with the West Ham United Academy in London.
• All Soccer Plus Academy staff will have access to coaches education sessions put on by the West Ham United Academy staff exclusively for Soccer Plus Academy.
• Soccer Plus Academy will have the opportunity to bring designated West Ham United Academy staff to the United States to visit the club in support of coaching education, team development and to integrate Soccer Plus Academy’s players and staff with West Ham United Academy.

Due to their standout performance during the 2013 USL SYL Olympic Development (ODP) Camp, Soccer Plus Academy players Jeaneste Pierre (SPA U14 Boys STRIKERS NPL-98), Michael Bernardi (SPA U16 Boys WHITECAPS NPL-96) and Eric Eastman (SPA U17 Boys LSC Vikings NPL-94) were named to their respective age divisions Select Teams and honored with the opportunity to compete in the camps final matches held on Sunday at IMG Academy, showcasing the camps elite players.

TAMPA, Fla. – The USL Super Y-League announced its 2013 Boys Olympic Development Camp (ODP) Select Teams today, honoring the players in the 96/97 and 98/99 age groups that had standout performances at the annual SYL ODP National Camp that was held this past weekend at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

The select teams were chosen from a pool of more than 160 total players in attendance by the coaches who led the players for the four-day camp under the supervision of USL National Technical Director, Peter Mellor. The select teams competed head to head in showcase games on Sunday.

Ironbound SC (NJ), Black Watch Soccer Club (NY) and the Long Island Rough Riders (NY) led the way with three players selected in the U13/14 age group, with FC America (FL), FC United (FL), Florida Fire Juniors (FL) and National Soccer Academy (NJ) each having two.

In the U15/16 age group, New York Magic - F.A. Euro (NY) and VSI Pinellas (FL) each had three players selected, while FC United (FL), Force Football Club Academy (MI), Soccer Plus Academy (NY), Super Nova FC (PA) and the Westchester Flames (NY) each placed two players on the select teams.

A total of 11 Soccer Plus Academy players have been selected to attend the 2012/2013 USL Super Y-League Olympic Development Program (ODP) Boys National Camp to be held at the world-class facilities of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, where a total 185 of the top U13-U17 players in North America are set to display their talent.

The boys’ camp begins on Thursday, February 21 and runs through Sunday, February 24, with an experienced and diverse roster of coaches on hand to provide instruction and evaluation under the direction of USL National Technical Director Peter Mellor, who has spent the past 19 years as a member of the U.S. National Staff and 26 years as an ODP coach.

Millor’s staff features an impressive lineup of coaches including University of Portland Director of Soccer Bill Irwin, former MLS star Raul Diaz Arce, former Penn State Head Coach Barry Gorman, and longtime MLS keeper

Players selected to attend the camp were identified as the top players in their birth year and among the top two percent of players in the Super Y-League. The ODP Program is a crucial component of the USL Super Y-League, offering the best players from the U13 to U17 age groups a chance to receive top-quality coaching and the opportunity to be scouted by U.S. National Team and college coaches.

IMG Academies is the world’s largest and most advanced multi-sport training facility for athletic, academic and personal development. During the span of 30-plus years, the Academy’s advanced training methods have helped countless youth, adult, collegiate and professional athletes improve in sport and life by providing an energetic and inspiring atmosphere on a 400-acre campus.

The 2012-13 SYL Olympic Development Program Girls National Camp will take place February 29 – March 3 at IMG Academies.
